Batter up! It’s baseball season!! Let’s run the bases together in April! What is one thing you can focus on in April to move yourself closer to your goals?
I’ve spent quite a bit of time already this spring at the ball fields watching two of our children play. There are some really strong hitters on our older son’s team. I watched during a game recently as each boy went up to bat, got into their batter’s stance and prepared for whatever pitch would be coming their way. Sometimes they swung, sometimes they didn’t. Sometimes they made contact, sometimes they missed. Sometimes they got a hit; sometimes they fouled the ball off. Sometimes they got on base; sometimes they struck out. Fortunately, I haven’t seen any players hit by the pitch this year but that can happen, too. More »
Where in the world is Cindy (aka Well-Trained Mama)? She hasn’t been as active on her Facebook page. She’s not posting workout selfies on Instagram all that often. Has she gained 50 pounds and gone into hiding?? More »
“The harder you work, the luckier you get.” – Gary Player
Have you ever found a four-leaf clover? A friend once gave me one she had found, and I saved it for a long time flattened inside a book. Maybe one day I’ll remember which book it’s in! I became curious about the significance of the four-leaf clover while creating this new goal tracker, so I looked it up on Wikipedia: “The four-leaf clover is a rare variation of the common three-leaf clover. According to tradition, such clovers bring good luck: If consumed, a genie appears. This genie grants you three wishes. These three wishes must be used in one year. In addition, each leaf is believed to represent something: the first is for faith, the second is for hope, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck.” Well, I didn’t eat my clover so I guess I missed out! 😉
Have you ever lost weight only to gain it back? Are you holding on to regrets, wishing things were the way they used to be? Has your focus on things in the past affected your ability to move forward? More »
What is it about stickers and a goal tracker that helps so much staying on track with our fitness goals? I don’t know, but it works!! I hope my goal trackers help you stay on track, too. Before I share the tracker, let me first tell you about a slow cooker recipe swap I’m hosting this week on Facebook. I’ve invited friends who are part of my Strong in ’16 group. I would love for you to join me in that group, where we can encourage one another in our health and fitness goals. Just click here and request to join! And if you want to get in on the recipe swap going on this week, comment on this post or send me a message.
Now, on to the November goal tracker!! More »
“How’s that working for you?”
That question may sound familiar. Back in my days of watching lots of daytime television, I remember talk show host Dr. Phil asking that of his guests, often before he helped re-direct their behavior or actions towards something more positive.
This is a question I’ve been asking myself recently. In the last two years, I’ve gained 10 pounds. Some people tell me, “It’s muscle.” No, oh how I wish that were true. How do I know? I know by the way my clothes fit, the need to go up a couple of sizes, not just in my pants but in my bras, too.
It’s so hard for me to share this. It was much easier to share my successes, as the extra weight was coming off. But the reality is I need to get a handle on this NOW before I’m back where I started in 2011. I’ve learned one of the hardest parts of weight loss is maintaining it once you reach your goal. I’m guessing I’m not the only one who may be struggling with this, and I wanted to share it here with the hope it will encourage you or another person struggling with this, too.
